Once a year Viva Acappella takes the opportunity to get together for a weekend of hard work but also friendship, bonding and renewal of our common purpose. This year we’re taking the opportunity to visit the county of Suffolk where our musical director lives.

We’re very excited to be welcoming our guest coach for the weekend, Doug Harrington. Doug has an impressive resume as a singer and as a director. His coaching credentials are equally as impressive, having worked on a huge variety of album projects and live performances. He is also on staff at Stockholm’s Royal College of Music as a special instructor, coach and mentor.

Should be a fabulous time!

The eight choirs short-listed for this year’s festival will battle it out at the Top Choir of Kent competition, organised by the Rotary Club of Canterbury.

As the 2011 winners of this county wide competition, Viva Acappella has been asked to perform in the entertainment slot at this year’s final. We had a fantastic time last year and are looking forward to returning to the venue, though it will be nice to not have the pressure of competition this time.

We’re looking forward to being able to strut our stuff and wow the crowd again.

Once more we are approaching our premier competition event. Fear and exhilaration will take hold in equal measures.

As 2011 Gold medal winners in the Small Chorus category, we certainly have a lot to live up to. And we don’t plan to disappoint.
